Image : http://www.flickr.com

The world moves fast these days, and sometimes its just plain hard to keep up with the latest news on our favorite music and releases from our favorite artists. New rap and R&B music comes out nearly every week, and for those with a busy schedule, it can to be a time consuming task just to find out what’s new in the hip hop world. So here is a quick over view of what is happening in the hip hop culture today:

Kanye West continues to release chart topping hits such as Coldest Winter, Heartless and Robocop. Labels like GOOD Music and Def Jam Records continue to promote Kanye as one of the hottest names in new rap and R&B music. His latest album, 808s and Heartbreak, is scheduled for release on November 25th, 2008.

Another Def Jam Records artist that is scheduled for a new album release on November 25th is Ludacris. The new album, Theater of the Mind, contains hits like One More Drink featuring T. Pain. The video for One More Drink just became available on November 4th. Other tracks on the new album include What Them Girls Like, Call Up the Homies featuring The Game and Willy Northpole, and Wish You Would featuring T.I.

50 cent has a scheduled release date for his new album, Before I Self Destruct, of December 9th of 2008. Along with the release of the album comes the release of a coinciding movie. The current hit from the up and coming album, is Get Up, which is already available for purchase.

Releasing new rap and R&B music in November is Trick Trick, with his album, The Villian. The Villan is Trick Trick’s second album, and contains a re-make of Run DMC’s Together Forever, with special guests Kid Rock, Esham, and Proof. The album is scheduled to hit shelves on November 11th.

Jedi Mind Tricks also has a release date of November 11th for the new album, A History of Violence. Fans of this group are excited to see what the new album has to offer.

The Evidence will be releasing the album, The Layover EP, on November 25th. The hit single, For Whom The Bell Tolls, will grace the album and feature accompanying artists will.i.am, Phonte, and Blu.

November 4th brought about the release of Q-tip’s latest album, The Renaissance. The album was Q-tip’s first release in nearly ten years. Much of the album is based on the life of the hip hop culture, with some songs dedicated to friends that have passed away.

November is a big month for new rap and R&B music, with big name artists releasing long awaited albums. December seems to hold just as much anticipation for those who can’t get enough of the hip hop culture.

The Dangers of Group B Streptococcus Vaginal Infection

Image : http://www.flickr.com

You have probably heard a lot about bacterial infections and viruses that can cause vaginal infections in some women. These infections can have irritating symptoms and can do damage to your reproductive organs if left untreated. But there is one type of infection that can do damage to more than just you. Group strep infections can affect the health of your unborn baby. So let’s learn a little more about strep infections of the vagina.

The most common type of strep infection that is found in the vagina is group B streptococcus, or GBS for short. This is a bacteria that is normally found in the vagina and lower intestine of healthy women. But when you become pregnant, this type of bacteria can pose a threat to your pregnancy and unborn child.

It is important to point out that GBS is not a sexually transmitted disease. A lot of women will have no symptoms at all and may be unaware that they carry this bacteria. So how do you know if you have it? When you are pregnant, your doctor can do a swab of your vagina and rectum between your 35th and 37th weeks of pregnancy. If the swab is done before this, the amount of GBS will not be significant enough to show positive. The swab is then sent to a lab where it is cultured. Test results will be known in approximately 24 to 48 hours.

Testing positive for GBS is not the end of the world. It simply means that you are a carrier of GBS and you could pass it on to your baby. Not every baby that has a mother who tests positive for GBS will become sick. However, you may be labeled a high-risk pregnancy. The complications that can arise from having GBS are preterm labor before 37 weeks and early rupture of membranes 18 hours or more before delivery. You may spike a fever during labor or you may be more susceptible to urinary tract infections. A urinary tract infection can throw a pregnant woman into preterm labor if not treated right away.

If you test positive, your doctor will give you antibiotics through an intravenous line during your labor and delivery to help protect your baby. This will greatly decrease the chances of your baby becoming ill from the GBS infection.

So if you are pregnant and diagnosed positive for group B streptococcus, hang in there. With the proper treatment you and your baby can enjoy a healthy and happy life together.

Boogeyman 2 DVD Movie

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Boogeyman 2 is so bad it defies the English language, but some people may disagree.

To begin with, this movie isn’t even a real sequel other than a passing reference to the first movie, and while I appreciate a sequel that attempts to go off in it’s own direction, this one goes so far from the first movie that it really upset me that they used the dreaded number 2 in its title since I was among the few that actually liked the original.

This story has nothing to do with an actual “boogeyman”, like the first movie did, but with a serial killer. The first film was a witty monster movie with ghost story elements thrown in. Boogeyman 2 is strictly a slasher movie and a terrible mystery tale to boot.

We are supposed to constantly believe in the totally unbelievable in this movie. The acting is awful, the direction is lumbering and lacks any real thrill, the death knell for any so-called thriller, and the storyline is just.

The movie opens with a young brother and sister witnessing the slaying of their parent in a very graphic manner and totally out of sync with the concept of the first movie. The kids are sent off to an asylum to help them cope with what they saw. The brother gets released, but the sister who got over things sooner re-enters when she realizes her brother doesn’t seem to need her anymore as he once did and she begins seeing the images of the crazed killer again who was never caught and she believes is a true Boogeyman.

The rest plays out like any poor slasher sequel with phone lines cut, the teenagers trapped, all adults gone, and one lone survivor trying to tell her story, but no one believes her. The cast still find time for some sex even though people are dropping left and right around them.

Simply put Boogeyman 2 is awful movie making and all connected to this movie should be embarrassed. I can’t imagine any hardcore slasher movie buffs enjoying this movie at all, but I’m sure some of them will.
